Kate is Professor/Honorary Consultant at UCLan /Liverpool Foundation NHS Trust. She has expertise in dental education and in patient safety and human factors in dental practice. She has taught undergraduate oral surgery in various academic institutions and is Postgraduate Lead and teaches/supervises postgraduate students (MSc Oral Surgery) at UCLan. Her interest in patient safety originated with wrong tooth extraction as ‘never events’ and avoiding these in undergraduate and postgraduate education. She uses her clinical experience in NHS and private practice to highlight common failures of communication that can lead to errors and unsafe practice.
