Speaker Profile

Originally joined the Army in 1986 as a Grenadier Guardsman, He transferred to the Royal Army Dental Corps in 1991, and qualified as a Dental Hygienist in 1993. After serving five years in various Army Dental Centres, in 1999 He left to join the real world, working full time in General Dental Practice. I was appointed to the GDC Fitness to Practise Panel in 2003 and sat for five years. He currently works in two practices full time. He is a co-opted member of Nottingham Local Dental Committee (possibly the only DCP in the country to do so!) and in 2009 was the first ever non-dentist to put forward a motion at the Annual LDC Conference in London. He is also a DCP Local Dental Advisor for Dental Protection Limited. He speaks too many groups on various ethical and legal issues that affect DCP registrants!

Lecture Synopsis

What is acceptable?

Have you ever wondered how a close relationship with a patient could affect the way you work? Or indeed how patients’ feelings for you may affect the professional relationship you have worked hard to establish? Guidance is out there; and by using a series of very real events involving a dental professional, I shall attempt to explore how to interpret this guidance and enable you to make the right choice should you ever be challenged with such a situation.
