Speaker Profile

Shaenna graduated in 1994 with a Business Management Degree and worked as a Personnel and Training Manager for a large Hotel Group before moving into the dental business in 2001. With her husband – Phil Loughnane - she opened the award winning Chipping Manor Dental Practice in Gloucestershire, which grew from a team of 3 to 52 in just 7 years. She believes Corporate Social Responsibility has been one of the keys to their success, and the team has strong links with the Dental charity Bridge2Aid in Tanzania. In 2007, they became the first practice to win the ‘BDA Good Practice Scheme’, Practice of the year Award, and gained one of the highest ever scores in an IiP Profile assessment. In 2008 they opened their second practice and have been nominated for a National Training Award for the induction programme that was implemented. She is a member of the British Dental Practice Managers Association and believes strongly in the team approach to business success.

Lecture Synopsis

I pay them... isn't that enough?

Your staff costs could be your most significant financial burden, and the cost of replacing staff even more of a strain on resources. If you motivate your people well, you will stand a chance of keeping them. This session will address the issue of team motivation, examining what really does motivate people to work for you, which may quite well not be money. We will look at the work/life balance, which is becoming an increasingly important factor for many people, as well as strategies for successfully incorporating team creation and motivation into the way you run your practice.
