An overview of the equipment and drugs required to manage medical emergencies by the dental team in practice and update on Resuscitation Council (UK) and Care Quality Commission guidelines on the management of medical emergencies in primary dental care. This course concentrates on core CPD training for hygienists and therapists and incorporates live and interactive scenario-based training.

Biography
Julie Burke is a Lecturer and Specialist in Oral Surgery at the Leeds Dental Institute. She qualified in dentistry at the University of Leeds in 1995 and was awarded her Fellowship in dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1999. Julie is qualified in Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and has > 10 years experience in organising and delivering training in the management of medical emergencies by the dental team. She is one of the key trainers for the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery and the BDA Training Essentials seminars in Manchester and Glasgow (2012). These courses are interactive using scenarios. In addition, Julie has developed a kit and training package for medical emergency management in primary dental care.
Julie has presented at various dental conferences, and at regional courses for the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery in medical emergency management; this is classified as a major event course for the Deanery. Julie held interactive seminars at our Dentistry Show launch in March 2011 which were oversubscribed and well-received.
