John qualified as a Dental Hygienist 1980 from the Army School of Dental Health, Aldershot. He now works 4 days a week in private practice in Cheshire, dealing with implants on a daily basis. He has been involved in implant care for nearly 20 years and has developed protocols that may be used in general practice as well as the more specialised practice. John is a member of the DCP Advisory Board and is an assessor in Key skills for DCPs at the FGDP (UK). He is also on the Editorial Board of ‘Team in Practice’. He has written numerous articles for the dental press, has lectured locally and nationally to the Dental Team. John has an MSc in E-Learning Technology and runs an E-Learning consultancy whilst developing online courses for the Dental Team. John has also developed a very successful online forum for Dental Hygienists, www.hygienist.co.uk.
Lecture Synopsis
The aim of this presentation is to provide you with the information needed to confidently deal with Implants. The range of experience of those who deal with implants may vary from those who have never encountered them to those who deal with them daily. We will take a look at the history, the present and the future, we will look at the anatomy and histology involved. More importantly we will discuss the planning, the care and the recovery of our rehabilitated patients, from the hygienist perspective. No matter what your experience you will be able to take something new away with you.
