Speaker Profile

Jillian is the CPD Training Manager for the Dental Nurse Education & Training Centre at Guys, King’s & St Thomas' Hospitals. She qualified as a Dental Nurse at Manchester Dental Hospital in 1994 and has worked in both Private and NHS practices as well as Dental Hospitals. She has also worked as a specialist Dental Nurse in the Restorative department at Guys Dental Hospital and was a head & neck cancer care coordinator for the Trust. Jillian has a Further and Adult Education Teaching Certificate, a certificate in Dental Radiography as well as being an assessor for the NVQ III Oral Health Care Dental Nursing qualification and recently achieved a management qualification. She is also a National and Oral Health Education examiner for the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses

Smoking cessation - Raising the issue

The aim of the session is to discuss with the dental team, the health problems related to tobacco use and to introduce the stop smoking services available to patients. We will also discuss how to raise the issue of smoking cessation to others.
