Lecture Synopsis
An Introduction to Conflict Management
Work related aggression and violence is a major issue in most occupational sectors, the highest assault levels are experienced in Health Care. Evidence shows that incidents have increased over recent years to an unacceptable high level. Those who are most at risk from verbal and physical ill treatment are employees who are customer facing for example members of the dental team. A conflict situation can take minutes to escalate from a misunderstanding to aggression and violence. A risk management approach is necessary in order to identify situations that may exist and to look at ways of addressing them.
