Selecting Ceramics
"One of the most difficult tasks in restorative dentistry is to restore or replace missing teeth in a truly natural and aesthetic way. Today there is a bewildering range of materials and techniques available for such a task, and this presentation takes a critical look at a range of ceramic materials and combinations using clinical examples of treated patients to illustrate the advantages and disadvantages of several systems. The suitability of the various materials for use in anterior and posterior multiple unit situations will also be discussed with recommendations to help solve common problems. There willl be many tips and hints which the busy dentist can incorporate into his or her own practic ethe following day."
Biography

Dr Mike Cassidy RD, BDS, MSc, FDS, FFD, DRD, RCS
Consultant and Specialist in Restorative Dentistry and Periodontics
Mike Cassidy qualified at Glasgow University Dental School in 1978, and during the next 4 years held training posts from House Officer to Registrar in several hospitals in the Glasgow area, at the same time working part time on Saturday mornings in NHS dental practice in East Kilbride. He was appointed Senior Registrar in Restorative Dentistry at Newcastle Upon Tyne Dental Hospital in 1982, and after taking a Masters degree in Conservative Dentistry at the Eastman in 1985, was appointed Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Leeds Dental Hospital in 1986. Ten years later, Mike moved to Jersey where he is presently part time Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Jersey General Hospital and part time in private specialist practice. He is on the GDC Specialist Lists in Restorative Dentistry and Periodontics, and his main clinical interest is in making ugly teeth look beautiful.
Mike has lectured widely around the UK and internationally, including USA, Ireland, Holland, France, Malaysia, Jordan, Pakistan, Majorca, India, Oman, Croatia, Gibraltar, Barcelona, Lebanon and Dubai.
Hobbies include travelling to interesting places, fishing, photography, astronomy, current affairs and above all, wining & dining around the 200 restaurants in Jersey.
