The future of aesthetic and restorative dentistry

Dentistry is changing faster than any time in modern history.  We are at the beginning of an era where compromises of traditional restorative dentistry will be overcome. The utilization of CAD-CAM in design and fabrication of indirect restorations yield a final result that is faster, more accurate, and stronger than we have seen in the past and in the future will completely replace traditional laboratory crown & bridge fabrication. Digital impressions will ultimately replace the inaccuracies of polyvinyl and stone models. Ceramics themselves are becoming more aesthetic, yet with improved physical properties, and we have seen and will continue to see ceramics that can produce ideal results in numerous scenarios including metal-free bridges, Cementable crowns, and conservative veneers.  Adhesive materials and cements continue to improve to provide ease-of-use and more predictable outcomes.

Biography 

Dr. David Hornbrook graduated from UCLA School of dentistry and currently practices in San Diego, CA.   He has been a guest faculty member of the post-graduate programs in Cosmetic Dentistry at Baylor, Tufts, SUNY at Buffalo, UMKC, and the UCLA Center of Cosmetic Dentistry.  He has consulted with numerous manufacturers’ in product development and refinement and is on the editorial board of Practical Procedures & Aesthetic Dentistry, Contemporary Esthetics, Signature, and is the past editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.   He is an accredited member and Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.  He was the founder and past director of P.A.C. Live, and The Hornbrook Group.  He has lectured internationally on all facets of esthetic dentistry and has published articles in all of the leading dental journals.
