Amanda is a dedicated dental hygienist and educator. She studied dental hygiene at Manchester Dental Hospital and qualified in 1996.
Since qualification she has gained a wealth of experience in periodontal disease management by working in the hospital sector, general NHS and private specialist practice and has been a clinical tutor at Sheffield Dental hospital where she completed her FAETC qualification.
In 2003 Amanda reduced her clinical hours to work in the Dental industry as a Professional educator for a leading toothbrush company- she helped set up a student programme and lectures to various audiences of dental, hygiene and therapy students and practising hygienists, and is always a familiar face at trade exhibitions.
In her spare time she writes articles for the Dental press on clinical and behavioural techniques, and is studying for an OU degree.
She is a past regional secretary for the Midlands BSDHT group, and is at present on council as the Midlands regional group representative, and has recently joined the publications committee.
She was runner up in Hygienist of the Year competition 2007 and a finalist in 2008.
