The General Dental Council’s confirmed its attendance at the 2012 Dentistry Show.

The GDC’s Chief Executive and Registrar Evlynne Gilvarry will speak on the morning of 2 March.  Evlynne will update delegates on the latest developments at the UK’s dental regulator including the review of Standards for Dental Professionals and Scope of Practice.

In addition, GDC staff will be on hand at the GDC stand in order to answer any questions you may have about the regulator and how its work affects you. Free patient leaflets on tooth whitening and the GDC will be available as well as publications explaining Continuing Professional Development requirements and the GDC’s Standards.

Delegates can also find out more about the GDC-funded Dental Complaints Service. Free to use, impartial and independent of the NHS and Government, the trained advisors at the DCS can help dental professionals resolve complaints with patients about private dental treatment.

Evlynne Gilvarry, Chief Executive and Registrar - biography

Evlynne Gilvarry took over as chief executive and registrar of the GDC on 20 October 2010. She joined the GDC from the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC), the statutory regulator of osteopathy in the UK, where she’d worked as chief executive and registrar since November 2007. Previously she worked in various senior policy and management roles at the Law Society, the regulator and professional body for solicitors in England and Wales. She is a qualified lawyer and mediator.
